Summer in the city!

It was a bright and sunny Sunday morning today, just the right kind of weather to head out for a morning of grocery shopping. So right after breakfast, off we went! After all, the local news station announced last night that summer has arrived 'officially' in Vancouver (though with temperatures hovering around 20degC in the day, it's still cool by tropical standards), so it's certainly the best period to enjoy the outdoors.

To our surprise, we discovered upon reaching Macdonald Street that it happened to be Greek Day in the Lower Mainland part of Vancouver, a day which marks the finale of the Greek Month (which celebrates Greek culture and heritage). There was a road closure along West Broadway just for the Greek Day Carnival, so we decided to bask in the sun a little longer and join the crowd for a stroll through the stalls.

After that, it was back to what we planned to do for the morning: shopping for more groceries and necessities in Safeway. Incidentally, there've been many items on sale these past few days, Girl now has a complete range of Olay skin care products (which are of great quality despite their affordable prices) at 30% off! However, the best deal has to be the 10-kg sack of rice, which was discounted by $6. So even though I had to hug the sack back home (this meant a 15-minute walk), it was really worth the effort. Indeed, given the savings we've enjoyed, we've found out that it really wasn't expensive to live in Vancouver at all if we manage our expenditure well.

Right, it's off for a hair-cut now, I've realized from the photos that my un-styled hair gives me a perennially 'just out of bed' (a.k.a sleepy) look. Have to ask my top hairdresser (who happens to be Girl) for some trend-setting advice at the 'studio'!
